2008 Governor’s Awards for the Arts in Ohio

The Lima Senior High Spartanaires

The Lima Senior High Spartanaires “Excellence in Performance through Excellence in Music Education” is the motto of the Lima Senior High music department which serves to infuse Lima High School students with the musical knowledge behind excellent performances. The Lima Senior High Spartanaires are one of five ensembles in the choral department. They represent select students from the Masterworks Ensemble and meet before school twice weekly. The Spartanaires perform for many community events, sing four seasonal concerts and perform annually in choral competitions. The Spartanaires have engaged in choral workshops with many area universities and most recently with the professional ensemble Chanticleer. The students are regularly chosen as members of honor choirs for regional, state and multi-state conventions. The Lima Senior choral program is under the direction of Stephen J. Popa and Sandy K. Miller.
