|
For these works on paper, I apply thin washes of oil paint on gessoed paper. I work on the paintings daily, each day turning the paper and applying new layers. The first paintings had light as the most important element, as if one were looking through a window. In recent work, calligraphic elements that were once small and subtle have taken on a new importance, sometimes suggesting elements in nature. The images appear slowly over time, helped along by the addition of or subtraction of paint with the brush.
