Marcie Goodman, Cleveland International Film Festival, Cleveland Marcie Goodman, Cleveland International Film Festival, Cleveland

Nominated By: John Farina

Marcie Goodman has worked for the Cleveland Film Society (CFS) for 20 years and was appointed executive director in 2001. During her tenure at the CFS, which produces the annual Cleveland International Film Festival, Goodman has helped increase attendance by more than 50%. In addition, corporate, foundation, individual, governmental and board financial support has more than doubled in five years. The Film Festival is responsible for a significant amount of economic impact in the Cleveland area and brings in thousands of attendees from Northeast Ohio and the surrounding area, including Columbus, Pittsburgh, Detroit and New York. According to Time Magazine, the Cleveland International Film Festival is a must-do for film buffs around the country. Directors and producers of films often comment that of the many festivals they attend, they have the best experiences in Cleveland. The festival’s incredible growth is a testament to the management skills and talents of Goodman. She has personally involved herself in every aspect of the organization, careful to not micro-manage, but still offering stable leadership and support. She has worked to grow and strengthen the board and has significantly increased their personal involvement in the event. Goodman has also cultivated a growing group of more than 400 dedicated volunteers whose efforts contribute significantly to the success of the festival. Goodman has spent her life strengthening the arts sector in Northeast Ohio. She is a mentor to many arts and cultural professionals in the region and her leadership and vision are an inspiration to many. Goodman’s talent, experience and dedication are a credit to both the organization and the community she serves.
