Artist-Promoting the Residency
Artist - Promoting the Residency
At the planning stage:
- Be an arts advocate. Promote the Arts Learning office, including the Artist in Residence and Arts Partnership grant programs. Encourage awareness and understanding of the
public value of the arts. Refer interested persons to the Public
Value page on the OAC's website for further information.
- Discuss publicity plans for the residency. Identify residency members with responsibilities related to promotion.
- Prepare a publicity packet containing photos and a news release well in advance of the residency.
- Offer to conduct interviews with radio and TV stations and newspapers to discuss your work as an artist in residence.
- Collaborate with the sponsor to encourage full use of on-site media, such as school, organization and district newsletters, mailing lists, bulletin boards, closed-circuit TV, websites and distance-learning broadcasts
and social media outlets such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.
- Distribute and collect Participant Release Forms in order to obtain photo and media images of residency activities.
While the residency is occurring:
- Acknowledge support from the OAC in all oral or written statements, using the OAC credit logo when appropriate.
- Save news clippings and other media coverage of the residency activities.
Document the residency activities:
- Write to your state legislators to let them know how the funding for this arts experience was of benefit to you and to the community district represented by those legislators.
- Compile news clippings, slides or photos, newsletters and other residency publicity to document residency activities.
- Submit your final report; be sure to include photos, media images and participant release forms.
The print pages are formatted so that they print each page separately.
