I am a visual artist and primarily focus on the media of drawing, printmaking and artist's books. I have conducted residencies with elementary and high school students. The most successful residencies have been structured so that I am able to present many different types of books; students are able to bring their writing or personal interest topic to the content of the book; and as a group we are able to explore paper decoration, drawing and painting techniques and the art of illustration. I believe that students can strive to be deeply connected and interested either personally or intellectually to the content of the book they create. The visual arts are a great tool in aiding students to make independent choices that lead to problem solving and creative discoveries.

My artistic work is inspired by my environment and the historical and contemporary relationships between daily living, science and the unseen mystery of the natural world. I use both contemporary and traditional approaches to creating and binding books.

I received my B.F.A. in Printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute, an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from San Francisco State University and an M.A.in Art Education from Miami University in Ohio. My artist books have been shown in numerous exhibits throughout the United States. Most recently, my book arts project, Compendium, was chosen for a Short Show at the Dayton Visual Arts Center and my work was included in the 5th International Book and Paper Arts Triennial at the Chicago Center for Book and Paper Arts and in 2008 Master Craftworks at Studio San Giuseppe Gallery, College of Mount St. Joseph, Cincinnati, Ohio.
