Edward Zigler

Zigler is Sterling Professor of Psychology at Yale University. As head of the psychology section of the Child Study Center at Yale, Zigler directs a distinguished laboratory engaged in basic and applied studies of child development and family functioning. He is considered an expert in the ways the interaction of children, families, educational systems and social policies affect the stability of neighborhoods. As former director of the Office of Child Development in Washington, D.C., Zigler was responsible for administering the Head Start Program and was instrumental in establishing innovative programs such as Health Start, Home Start, Education for Parenthood and the Child and Family Resource Program.
