Ohio Arts Council Executive Director Inducted into Ohio Commodores

Columbus, OH--Ohio Arts Council (OAC) Executive Director Donna S. Collins was inducted into the Association of Ohio Commodores on Saturday, June 6, 2015. The Association of Ohio Commodores is a group of individuals recognized by the Governor of Ohio with the state's most distinguished honor, The Executive Order of the Ohio Commodore.

The Commodores inducted 12 new members during the association's annual summer induction dinner at the Hilton Easton in Columbus. Each year outstanding Ohioans are recognized for their business accomplishments, acumen, and leadership with this prestigious honor.

Ms. Collins is a proven leader in the field of arts education and arts advocacy with more than 20 years of experience in leading statewide non-profit organizations, demonstrating consistent success and solid results that impact policy, education, and economic development.

Prior to leading the OAC, Ms. Collins served as the executive director of the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education (OAAE) since 1998 and as the executive director of the Ohio Citizens for the Arts (OCA) since 2001. During her tenure, both the OAAE and OCA were recognized statewide and nationally for their success at increasing services to constituents, creating policy, and generating more funds for the arts. She has worked with the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network (KCAAEN) on the Network Leadership Committee and as a consultant to state alliances across the nation. She also served as an Americans for the Arts State Captain and a State Arts Action Network (SAAN) member, including serving as chair of the SAAN Council.

She has received the Distinguished Fellow & Arts Administration Award by the Ohio Art Education Association; the Fran Bay Award from VSA Ohio; Executive Director recognition from KCAAEN in 2003, 2008, and 2011; and induction into the Ohio Educational Theatre Association Hall of Fame.

About the Association of Ohio Commodores
Governor James A. Rhodes formed the Association of Ohio Commodores in 1966 for the purpose of assisting the state of Ohio in advancement in all areas contributing to the growth and development of the state and greater prosperity of its citizens. The association was incorporated under the laws of the State of Ohio in 1971 as a non-profit organization, and now its esteemed members are primarily involved with supporting the Office of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor. The Association is a nonpartisan organization that currently boasts a diverse and dedicated membership of more than 400 men and women.
