Columbus, OH--Online registration has been extended for the 2015 Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio & Arts Day Luncheon until Wednesday, April 29. Registration will remain open via phone by calling 614/221-4064 until all seats are sold. Tickets are going fast, so don't delay!

This year marks the 44th anniversary of the luncheon, which will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the Columbus Athenaeum in downtown Columbus. The luncheon is hosted by the Ohio Arts Council and the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation.

Six winners, selected from 68 nominations submitted by individuals and organizations across the state, will be honored at the luncheon ceremony along with members of the Ohio General Assembly. Winners will receive an original work of art by Ohio printmaker Nicole Schneider.

The award categories and recipients are:

Individual Artist: James Pate, Dayton (Montgomery)
Community Development and Participation: Mayor Thomas Johnson, Somerset (Perry)
Business Support of the Arts: Morris Furniture Company, Fairborn (Greene)
Arts Patron: Barbara Hunzicker, Lancaster (Fairfield)
Arts Education: Dr. Philip Brady, Youngstown (Mahoning)
Arts Administration: Marie Bollinger Vogt, Sylvania (Lucas)

Single tickets are available online for $50 and include lunch and a dessert reception. Table sponsorships are available through the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation. The 2015 Governor's Awards ceremony and luncheon will be held in conjunction with Arts Day. Arts Day was created to foster a greater awareness of the value of the arts in Ohio. Citizens are encouraged to participate in Arts Day by visiting with their state legislators and communicating the need for public support of the arts and arts education. Contact the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation for more information on how to participate.
