On December 2, 2014, National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu announced the agency's fall 2014 grant awards for the first round of Art Works, as well as Challenge America, and Creative Writing Fellowships in Poetry. Grants totaling $552,000 were awarded to 23 artists and arts organizations throughout Ohio.
"We are pleased to see the NEA investing significant dollars to support the arts in Ohio," said Ohio Arts Council (OAC) Chair Jeff Rich. "These grants leverage public and private dollars to ensure that all Ohioans have access to quality arts programming."
"It's clear that the arts are alive and well in Ohio," continued OAC Executive Director Donna Collins. "These programs and artists funded by the NEA will create a powerful return on investment for the citizens of Ohio by fostering innovation and creativity across the state."
Art Works grants support the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and the strengthening of communities through the arts.
