The Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery Presents A Century of Ohio Watercolor

In a tribute to the Ohio Arts Council's (OAC) 50th anniversary, OAC's Riffe Gallery kicks off 2015 with a milestone exhibition: A Century of Ohio Watercolor, January 29 through April 15, 2015. Produced by the Southern Ohio Museum, Portsmouth (SOM) and curated by SOM Artistic Director Charlotte Gordon, the exhibition spans the years 1915-2015 and showcases more than 45 Ohio artists working in the versatile medium of watercolor. Artists include August Biehle, Emerson Burkhardt, Alice Schille, Clarence Carter, Cody Heichel, and many more.

Opening Reception
Join us for the exhibition opening on Thursday, January 29, 5-7 p.m. Food and beverage generously donated.

Curator's Tour
Take a guided tour of A Century of Ohio Watercolor led by curator Charlotte Gordon on Friday, January 30, noon-1 p.m.

Family Workshop with Kelley Booze
Join Kelley Booze, Springfield artist and Columbus College of Art & Design graduate, on Sunday, February 22, 2-4 p.m. to learn fundamentals of watercolor painting from drawing to various application techniques. The workshop is geared towards children 6 to 17. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Space is limited; register at riffegallery.org, January 30-February 20.

Writing Workshop with Lucrecia Guerrero
On Thursday, April 2, 5:30-8:30 p.m., award-winning author Lucrecia Gurrero will lead an adult writing workshop that will help bring personal experiences and memories to life using senses to recall details. Please register in advance at riffegallery.org, January 30-March 31.

A Century of Ohio Watercolor is produced by the Southern Ohio Museum and presented by the Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery. Educational offerings are sponsored by OACs Arts Learning Program. Media support provided by CD102.5, CityScene, Ohio Channel, WOSU, Ohio Magazine, and WCBE 90.5 FM.

About the Riffe Gallery: The Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery showcases the work of Ohio's artists and the collections of the state's museums and galleries. The Riffe Gallery is located in the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts, across from the Statehouse on High Street in Downtown Columbus.
