Ohio Arts Council Approves 39 Grants Totaling $118,638

At a public meeting on October 15, 2014, the Ohio Arts Council's (OAC) board approved grant ratifications for fiscal years 2014 and 2015. Ratifications are the board's final approval of funds allocated in various program areas since its June 19, 2014, meeting. The OAC board approved 39 grant awards totaling $118,638. These grants have not been previously announced.

These newly approved awards will bring the OACs total funding amount to $9,555,864 for FY2014 and $9,379,589 for FY2015. Most organizations that receive OAC funds are required to match state tax dollars with additional public and private funds on a one-to-one basis.

FY2014 Grant Award Ratifications:
For FY2014, the board approved 19 grants for a total award amount of $97,138.

Artists with Disabilities Access
The Artists with Disabilities Access Program (ADAP) provides support to individual artists with disabilities as well as organizations that serve individual artists with disabilities to engage in activities that will help them advance their artistic practice, develop their career, or move to a higher level of artistic development.

Ten (10) ADAP grants were approved totaling $7,538.

Special-Individuals
This grant will fund the Ohio Heritage Fellowship Award and the award ceremony performance at the Columbus International Festival.

One (1) Special Individuals grant was approved totaling $5,500.

Special Organizations
These grants support OAC grant programs with rolling deadlines including Building Cultural Diversity, Artist Express, as well as one-time special projects.

Eight (8) Special-Organization grants were approved for a total of $84,100.

FY2015 Grant Award Ratifications:

For FY2015, the board approved 20 grants for a total award amount of $21,500.

Artists with Disabilities Access
Fourteen (14) ADAP grants were approved totaling $10,500.

Special-Organizations
Six (6) Special-Organization grants were approved totaling $11,000.

The OAC board, currently consisting of 12 gubernatorial appointees and four nonvoting members from the Ohio legislature, makes final decisions based on panel recommendations.
