The Ohio Arts Council is pleased to present the 16th annual statewide International Music and Performing Arts in Communities Tour (IMPACT) October 1 - 15, 2014. This year's encore tour will be performed by Andes Manta, a traditional folk music group hailing from the Ecuadorian Andes. This four brother troupe learned to play Andean music in its original setting and their traditions have been passed through generations for thousands of years. The group has toured across North America in distinguished locations such as Carnegie Hall, the National Cathedral, and Lincoln Center. Since 1998, IMPACT has brought international artists to Ohio for a statewide tour in underrepresented areas and in non-traditional venues. The purpose of these free concerts is to introduce art forms from around the world to new audiences. In addition to the performances, IMPACT features educational outreach programs in each community. This fall, the vibrant, celebratory sound of Andes Manta will be brought to communities across Ohio, including: Ashland, Wilmington, Marietta, Pemberville, Cridersville, and Lorain. IMPACT is presented in partnership with Ohio Arts Presenters Network and is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest, which is generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council.
