Governor Kasich Appoints Two New Ohio Arts Council Board Members
by Elizabeth Weinstein and Malika Bryant

Governor John Kasich has appointed Emma Scharfenberger Off, of Cincinnati, and Jane Foulk, of Thornville, to the Ohio Arts Council board. Ms. Off's term will end on July 1, 2014, and Ms. Foulk's term will end on July 1, 2015.

"I would like to welcome both Ms. Off and Ms. Foulk to the Ohio Arts Council board," said Julie Henahan, executive director of the OAC. "I look forward to working with two people who are clearly very involved in and concerned about access to the arts for all Ohioans, one of the OAC's most important objectives."

Ms. Off is an attorney with Graydon Head & Ritchey LLP, where she practices in the areas of general corporate law and commercial loans and financial transactions. Ms. Off sits on the board of ArtWorks, a non-profit arts organization that encourages people to enrich Cincinnati through art, apprenticeships, employment and education. She is also a founding member of Cincinnati Ballet's Attitude Young Professional Board, an active member of Future at the Cincinnati Art Museum and a participant in the ArtsWave Boardway Bound program.

Ms. Foulk is a board member of Ohio Citizens for the Arts and the Perry County Farm Bureau. She has served as development director of the Legal Aid Society of Columbus, a business owner, director of Columbus Development Department and director of Columbus Human Services. Ms. Foulk has experience in management, administration, program development and evaluation, organization and planning, and communications and public relations. In 2013, she served on the Governor's Awards Selection Committee, which was comprised of five Ohio Arts Council board members and three members who were selected by Ohio Citizens for the Art.

"We are so pleased with these two outstanding appointments to the Ohio Arts Council," said OAC board chair Jeffrey A. Rich. "Governor Kasich has once again recognized the important role the arts play in growing Ohio's economy by selecting these fine arts leaders."
