Eight winners have been selected to receive the 2013 Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio. The awards will be presented at a luncheon ceremony honoring the winners and members of the Ohio Legislature at noon on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Columbus Athenaeum in downtown Columbus. The luncheon is hosted by the Ohio Arts Council and Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation. Winners will receive an original work of art by Susan Danko, a painter from Parma. Winners were selected from 66 nominations submitted by individuals and organizations throughout Ohio. The award categories and recipients are: Arts Administration, Jill Snyder, Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (Cleveland); Arts Education, Stivers School for the Arts (Dayton); Arts Patron, Charlotte Kessler (New Albany) and Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Schuster (Dayton); Business Support of the Arts, PNC Bank (Statewide); Community Development and Participation, Raymond Shepardson (Cleveland); Individual Artist, Jack Earl (Lakeview) and Joseph O'Sickey (Kent). The 2013 Governor's Awards Selection Committee consisted of five Ohio Arts Council board members and three members who were selected by Ohio Citizens for the Arts. They were: Committee Chair Karen Bell (Columbus), Louisa Celebrezze (Columbus), Sara Jane DeHoff (Perrysburg), Sara Vance Waddell (Cincinnati), Jeff Rich (Columbus), Julius Dorsey (Cleveland Heights), Barbara Hunzicker (Lancaster), and Jane Foulk (Thornville).
