Ohio Arts Council Hires New Public Information Office Director

The Ohio Arts Council has hired Elizabeth Weinstein as the new Public Information Office Director. Weinstein is an Ohio native who possesses a strong arts journalism and communications background.
"I am delighted to have Elizabeth on the Ohio Arts Council team," said OAC Executive Director Julie S. Henahan. "She has a wonderful journalism background, both in her education and her experience. I look forward to working closely with Elizabeth and know she will help shine a light on Ohio's outstanding artistic resources."
Weinstein comes to the Ohio Arts Council from her alma mater, Oberlin College, where she worked for more than three years as Assistant Director of Alumni Outreach and Engagement, and was responsible for managing the Oberlin College Alumni Association's print and electronic communications. She graduated from Oberlin in 2002 with a degree in English and cinema studies, and earned an M.S. in journalism from Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in 2010.
Before joining Oberlin's staff in 2009, Weinstein worked as a journalist for nearly seven years at The Columbus Dispatch, Northern Ohio Live magazine, Ohio Magazine and The Cleveland Jewish News. In 2008, she won first place in the magazine category of the Press Club of Cleveland's Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards, for feature-arts reporting.
In her spare time Weinstein works as a freelance arts, entertainment and cultural reporter with a special interest in rock and pop music. Her articles have appeared on RollingStone.com, Billboard.biz and OhioAuthority.com and in West Shore Live Well, Pulse Magazine, the Oberlin Alumni Magazine and more. She credits her grandmother, the late Ohio abstract expressionist painter Marilyn Kaye, with introducing her to art at an early age and inspiring a lifelong passion for all art forms.
"I am excited to join the staff of the OAC and to help raise public awareness about this organization that plays a vital role in the state's cultural and economic well-being," Weinstein said. "I look forward to spreading the word about the OAC and all the great people, places and organizations it helps support."
