The Ohio Arts Council and Capitol Square Review & Advisory Board Announce Commission for the Ohio Statehouse Holocaust Memorial
by Karine Aswad

The Ohio Arts Council and the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board announce a call for entry for a newly commissioned Ohio Statehouse Holocaust Memorial. The proposed memorial will sit on the grounds of the Ohio Statehouse, Columbus, OH. The projects commissioned amount of $2 million will be funded through private dollars raised for the creation and installation of the completed piece with public dollars being used for preliminary site preparation.

In March 2012, Governor Kasich signed the legislation authorizing the creation of the Memorial with oversight of the project being given to the Ohio Arts Council and Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board. The piece will serve as a permanent memorial in remembrance of all victims of the Holocaust and those Ohioans who participated in the liberation of the death camps during World War II.

The deadline for entry is Friday, November 9, 2012. Commission requirements and details are available here.
