Calling all Emerging Arts Leaders: OAC Stipends Available for 2012 Americans for the Arts' Emerging Leaders Preconference
by Amy McKay

The Ohio Arts Council is pleased to offer Ohio's emerging arts leaders the opportunity to attend the Americans for the Arts' Emerging Leaders Preconference in San Antonio, Texas on June 7 and 8, 2012. To qualify for a stipend, emerging arts leaders must meet the basic qualifications set forth by Americans for the Arts. They must be age 35 and under, or an arts leader of any age with less than five years of experience in the arts field.

The Ohio Arts Council is offering awards to help pay for conference attendance, travel and lodging for this event, which includes sessions focused on career planning, visioning, leadership development and more. The opportunity to connect with peers from around the country will also be invaluable. This opportunity complements future Ohio Arts Council activities laid out in the new strategic plan that are geared at supporting and encouraging this critical next generation of arts leaders.

A limited number of awards are available. To apply, submit a current resume and a one-page letter of intent describing your background and professional interest in attending the preconference, including the impact you hope it will have on your career in the arts. Letters are due March 31, 2012. Finalists will be asked to submit a more detailed application. Awardees will be announced by April 20, 2012.

Send letters or questions to Dan Katona at dan.katona@oac.state.oh.us. To learn more about the preconference, visit http://convention.artsusa.org/preconferences.
