The Ohio Arts Council has once again partnered with the Arts & Media Division of the Columbus Metropolitan Library and the Friends of the Library to bring arts opportunities to artists and the general public by presenting a juried exhibition at the Columbus Metropolitan Library's Main Library. The Sixth Annual Ohio Online Visual Artist Registry Juried Art Show, which opens Saturday, November 5, 2011, features original works of art by 43 Ohio artists. The artwork will be displayed from November 5, 2011 - January 8, 2012 in the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library's Carnegie Gallery, located on the 2nd floor of the library in downtown Columbus at 96 S. Grant Ave. Click here for a list of artists (by city) represented in the show. An award of $1,000 will be given for the Juror's Choice Award to Toledo artist Clifton Harvey for his work Homebound. An award of $500 will be presented for the People's Choice Award. Votes will be accepted for the People's Choice winner through November 24. An awards reception will be held on Saturday, December 3 from 2 - 3:30 p.m. in the Carnegie Gallery. The cash awards are provided by the Friends of the Library. Approximately 110 artists submitted work for the exhibition. A three-person panel--one arts professional and two library representatives--selected the work through a blind jury process. Edward E. Valentine, a well-known artist from Delaware, Ohio, and an associate professor in the art department at The Ohio State University (Lima), was this year's arts professional panelist. The annual juried show is open to all living Ohio artists, 18 years of age or older, who are registered in the Ohio Online Visual Artist Registry (OOVAR) at www.ohioonlinearts.org. OOVAR is a free database that showcases the work of more than 1,200 artists from Ohio and around the world.
