The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) has unveiled its strategic plan for 2011-2013. Entitled "A New View," this plan is the result of an unprecedented two-year planning process that involved OAC staff, the OAC board and thousands of Ohioans. Input from citizens was gathered during stakeholder meetings; in interview sessions with various constituent groups; via an online survey about arts and cultural participation that reached more than 5,700 Ohioans in 87 of Ohio's 88 counties; and during the OAC's Listening Tour, which stopped in 14 cites across the state to convene town hall meetings with constituents. "We at the Ohio Arts Council pride ourselves on being forward-thinking and innovative in our strategic planning efforts," said OAC Executive Director Julie S. Henahan. "With this plan, we present our new view of the role the arts can play in restoring Ohio's prosperity. This is the most inclusive, in-depth plan we have ever created, and I couldn't be more proud to share it with the thousands of Ohioans who participated in its development. Thank you for your invaluable contributions." The five key goals identified in the 2011-2013 plan highlight the OAC's commitment to strengthening the role of the arts in creative economic development and education and to fueling the next generation of leaders with the creativity and innovation skills they will need to succeed in tomorrow's economy. The goals are: Goal 1 : Protect Ohio's Quality of Life Goal 2 : Connect Ohioans to Arts and Culture Goal 3 : Help Citizens of All Ages Learn and Thrive Through the Arts Goal 4 : Establish Arts and Culture as a Partner in Community, Regional and State Development Goal 5 : Develop Leadership for Arts and Culture The full version of the 2011-2013 strategic plan can be found on the OAC's website. This colorful, eye-catching piece was designed by Columbus-based Formation Studio and is filled with images from a wide range of Ohio arts and culture organizations and OAC grantees. A special thanks goes out to all of these organizations for their visually stunning contributions. An executive summary of the plan will be developed and added to the OAC website in the near future.
