by Stephanie Dawson

Former Governor Ted Strickland has appointed Matthew Colopy to the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) board.

“I am delighted to have someone with Matt’s background and experience appointed to our board,” said Julie Henahan, executive director of the OAC. “Matt knows the OAC very well and will be a great asset to our work.”

Colopy, from Columbus, was appointed to the OAC board for a term ending July 1, 2012, replacing Susan Saxbe, who resigned. Colopy’s professional responsibilities and projects have taken him around the globe, having served as the Ohio Arts Council’s International Program director, as a senior trade specialist for the Ohio Department of Development’s International Trade Division, as an international project consultant for a Los Angeles-based construction management firm and most recently as the governor’s advisor for global relations.

Colopy holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from The Ohio State University, where he also completed graduate coursework toward a Master’s in Public Policy. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Web-Based Technologies and an Associate’s from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
