Ohio Arts Council Announces New Regional Structure for Organization Grant Programs
by Jami Goldstein

The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) has adopted a new regional structure to provide support for organizational applicants to OAC funding programs. The structure is based on the Ohio Department of Development’s 12 Economic Development regions.

The 12 regions will be divided among four program coordinators—Kathy Cain, Susan DePasquale, Pat Henahan and Dan Katona—for the Sustainability (under $1.5 million and over $1.5 million budget categories), Arts Access, Artists with Disabilities Access and Capacity Building Programs. Pat Henahan will manage Building Cultural Diversity applications for the entire state.

Susan dePasquale will continue handling applications from organizations in the northeast region of the state. Kathy Cain will assist organizations in central and west central Ohio, including the Dayton-Springfield and Columbus metro areas. Dan Katona will assist applicants in the greater Cincinnati area including Butler, Warren and Clermont counties. Pat Henahan will serve as program coordinator for the northwest region of Ohio, including Lima, Toledo, Sandusky and Mansfield, and the south central and southeast region, including Portsmouth, Athens, Cambridge and East Liverpool. A map detailing the regions assigned to each program coordinator can be found at www.oac.state.oh.us/grantsprogs/RegionalMap.pdf.

In the Arts Learning Office Joanne Eubanks will continue to assist schools and organizations throughout the state with the Artist in Residence program and both Eubanks and Jeff Hooper will assist applicants in the Arts Partnership program. The Individual Creativity program staffing remains unchanged—Ken Emerick and Kathy Signorino will both assist applicants with Individual Excellence Awards, Traditional Arts Apprenticeships and Heritage Fellowship Awards.

All deadlines and panel meeting dates for FY2011 can be found at: www.oac.state.oh.us/grantsprogs/deadlines.asp

. Due to significant budget and staff reductions in 2008 and 2009 the OAC needed to adjust its regional program structure in order to maintain its high quality of service to the field. This new structure will help position the agency for a sustainable future while meeting the agency’s core priorities—organizational operating and project support, arts education and individual artists.

The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.
