Ohio Arts Council Announces New Deputy Director

Mary Campbell-Zopf, director of the Ohio Arts Council’s (OAC) Office of Arts Learning, has been promoted to the position of deputy director. She will begin her new duties on December 1, 2006.

Campbell-Zopf served as director of the Office of Arts Learning for 11 years. She joined the OAC staff in 1988 and was instrumental in building the program into one of the largest arts education programs in the country. Between 1989 and 2006 Campbell-Zopf authored or co-authored 29 grant proposals to public and private funders at state and national levels that resulted in approximately $4.8 million for state-level arts, arts education and international programming. In the most recent OAC strategic planning process she assisted the deputy director with design and implementation including staff training, development of performance targets and measurements and related work plans and budgets.

Campbell-Zopf is a member of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) Leadership Taskforce and the NASAA Arts Education Governance Committee. From 1982-89 she worked for the Dayton Art Institute as coordinator of public programs and from 1979-82 was a visual arts specialist in the Dayton Public School District. Campbell-Zopf is a resident of Yellow Springs where she was an elected member of the Board of Education for 14 years. She graduated summa cum laude from Wright State University with a B.S in education.

The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.
