Ohio Arts Council Publishes Guide to International Cultural Exchange

<i>The Appreciative Journey: A Guide to Developing International Cultural Exchange</i>

The Ohio Arts Council has recently published its groundbreaking handbook for international exchange, The Appreciative Journey: A Guide to Developing International Cultural Exchange (ISBN 0-913335-05-3) by Michael Sikes, Ph.D., Mary Campbell-Zopf, Jami Goldstein and Wayne Lawson, Ph.D.

"The Appreciative Journey distills the Ohio Arts Council's many years of experience in international cultural exchange into a single volume," said Wayne Lawson, director emeritus of the Ohio Arts Council. "The goal of the publication is to provide organizations and individuals throughout the world with a framework from which to share the cultural riches of the world's people and lands; to engender mutual respect; and ultimately to bring about global understanding."

The Appreciative Journey is intended for organizations and individuals who are envisioning or planning an international cultural exchange program or who have such a program and wish to expand or improve it. Beneficiaries of this guide include: arts and cultural organizations, individuals, colleges and universities, governmental agencies with roles in the arts and culture, and private sector organizations and companies.

The Appreciative Journey is 108 pages and includes a CD of Toolkit PDFs for planning and evaluating programs. Cost is $24 with a $2.55 shipping/handling fee (total $26.55). Checks can be made out to the Ohio Arts Council and sent to:

Established in 1988, the Ohio Arts Council's International Program was designed to foster long-term involvement in international cultural exchange and encourage Ohio artists and arts organizations to form partnerships with arts professionals abroad. In addition to Germany, exchanges have occurred between Ohio artists, performers and administrators and their counterparts in Argentina, Chile, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel and Japan.
