U.S. Representative Patrick Tiberi to Host National Endowment for the Arts at Workshop for Columbus-area Nonprofit Arts Organizations

Arts and community groups convene for workshop on NEA grant process
U.S. Rep. Patrick J. Tiberi of Ohio’s 12th congressional district and Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Dana Gioia will hold a news conference on Wednesday, February 22 to provide an update on the Arts Endowment and provide background for the grants workshop that follows. The news conference will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Palm House at the Franklin Park Conservatory. Local arts and civic leaders will attend including Ohio Arts Council Executive Director Wayne Lawson.
The workshop is intended for leaders of nonprofit arts organizations who are interested in applying for Arts Endowment grants. The workshops will help them better understand federal arts funding opportunities and their processes and is part of the Arts Endowment’s outreach to Ohio. The workshop will be led by Deputy Chairman Tony Chauveaux and will be held in The Classroom at the conservatory.
This year, the National Endowment for the Arts marks its 40th anniversary of leadership in the arts. The NEA is a public agency dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts, both new and established; bringing the arts to all Americans; and providing leadership in arts education. Established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government, the Arts Endowment is the largest national funder of the arts, bringing great art to all 50 states, including rural areas, inner cities, and military bases.
