After 30 years of building Ohio through the arts, the Ohio Arts Council's beloved Executive Director Wayne Lawson is retiring effective March 1, 2006. Lawson has long been the driving force behind the most successful and respected state arts agencies in the country. His relentless pursuit of innovation and resources for the Ohio Arts Council is to be commended and celebrated. Wayne’s tenacity and devotion to the expansion of arts participation and arts education in all Ohio communities will continue to have resonance for many years. Ohio has been well served by Wayne Lawson.

The Ohio Arts Council Board would like to invite the Ohio arts community to help celebrate the friendship, legacy and accomplishments of Wayne Lawson at a tribute ceremony and reception on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, in the Capitol Theatre at the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts in Columbus beginning at 5:30 p.m.
