Ohio Arts Council Announces New Staff Members

The Ohio Arts Council has appointed a staff member to a new position and added a new staff person to the office of organizational services and community development.

Katherine Eckstrand has joined the OAC staff as the director of community development where she assists the executive director in formulating community development objectives, priorities, budgets and evaluations for the entire agency. Eckstrand has been involved with the Ohio Arts Council since 1998 as a consultant, and was a 2004 Recipient of the Governor’s Award for the Arts in Ohio for Arts Administration. She most recently served as the director for the Clark Sate Performing Arts Center. Eckstrand is working on a Ph.D. in Cultural Policy and Arts Administration at The Ohio State University and received her Masters in Arts from DePaul University in Chicago. She lives in Springfield, Ohio.

Kimberly Turner has been appointed program coordinator for the office of organizational services and community development. She will serve as the direct contact for grant applicants living in the southwest region of Ohio. Turner has been with the arts council since 1998. In 1999 she became a grants coordinator. From 1998 to 1999 she was a fine arts specialist. Turner came to the Ohio Arts Council from the Contemporary American Theatre Company (CATCO), where she worked in public relations and marketing. Turner has a B.F.A from The Ohio State University. She lives in Columbus.

The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.
