Ohio Arts Council Announces 2005 Grant Ratifications

At a public meeting on September 23, the Ohio Arts Council Board approved ratifications of grants for fiscal year 2005. Ratifications are the Board’s final approval of funds allocated in various program areas since its June 30, 2004 meeting. The Board ratified 53 grants for fiscal year 2005 totaling $89,378. These awards have not been announced previously. A complete list of grants can be found on the OAC website in the OAC Funding History database.

The 2005 ratifications included:

  • 13 Appalachian Arts Program grants for a total of $16,927
  • One Arts in Education grant totaling $1,500
  • One Individual Artist Professional Development grant totaling $25,000
  • Four Information and Resource Assistance grants for a total of $6,200
  • Two International Program grants for $2,691
  • 12 Minority Arts Program grants for a total of $9,000
  • One Performing Arts on Tour grant for $5,000
  • 12 Special Opportunity grants for a total of $18,060
  • Seven Special Programs and Services grants totaling $5,000

    Grant applications were reviewed last winter and spring by panels of arts experts and Ohio Arts Council staff. The Council Board, consisting of 15 gubernatorial appointees and four nonvoting members from the Ohio legislature, makes final decisions based on panel recommendations.

    The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.
