The Eblen Macari Trio

International Music Performing Arts and Communities Tour Presents
Eblen Macari Trio

En español

The Eblen Macari Trio, a group of contemporary Mexican musicians, will begin a three-week tour of Ohio and Pennyslvania on November 1 as part of the International Music and Performing Arts in Communities Tour (formerly the Faith Based Institution Tour). The tour is presented by the Ohio Arts Council in partnership with the Ohio Arts Presenters Network, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Arts Midwest.

The Eblen Macari Trio will perform 10 shows in Ohio, November 1-14, 2003. Cities include Toledo, Ashland, Cleveland, Medina, Fairborn, Granville, McConnelsville and Cincinnati. Pennyslvania performances will take place November 16-22 in Erie, Meadville and Franklin. All performances are free and open to the public.

Founded by the Mexican-Lebanese composer and guitar player Eblen Macari, multi-instrumentalist Jesús Yusuf Isa Cuevas and percussionist Eblen Macari Martínez, the Eblen Macari trio takes their audiences on an acoustic adventure through global musical traditions. They have performed in Mexico, Central America, United States, Canada and Europe.

The trio unites the sound of contemporary guitar developed in Latin America with modern and ancient ethnic sounds from around the world. The musicians combine the creative freedom of jazz, avant-garde musical languages and 1,000 years of musical traditions to create an original and unique sound that honors its diverse roots within the vast musical landscapes of Mexican and Middle Eastern music.

The faith based institution performing arts tour project began in 1998 with the presentation of Barocco Andino, a Chilean music ensemble. In following years the OAC brought international artists Ragamala Music and Dance Theatre, Viva Quetzal, Cuerdas de Fuego, and Real Tango to Ohio for a statewide tour of churches and synagogues. The goal is to expose new audiences to art forms from around the world. Faith based institutions are at the heart of every Ohio community.

The Ohio Arts Council, the Ohio Arts Presenters Network and Arts Midwest have joined together in a unique partnership designed to bring the best international performing arts groups to audiences in Ohio.

The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.
