Hilliard Darby Jazz Ensemble

Hilliard Darby Jazz Ensemblewidth= Originally known as Hilliard’s Station, Hilliard has grown substantially over the years and now boasts the 15th largest public school district in Ohio with just over 15,000 students. Hilliard’s rich agricultural heritage is still present today even as it has become a metropolitan, tree-lined suburb. The Hilliard Darby High School Jazz Ensemble is dedicated to learning traditional big band jazz focusing on standards of Count Basie and Duke Ellington as well as more recent composers such as Lennie Niehaus and Dave Wolpe. In addition to traditional swing, the band strives to play a variety of blues and various latin styles. The Hilliard Darby Jazz Ensemble regularly performs at venues in central Ohio, attends local jazz festivals and most recently completed a tour to Chicago. The band is honored to be a part of this special event representing the rich arts heritage of Ohio.
