2010 Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio
About the Artist Who Created the Awards
Larry Kasperek, photographer, Cleveland
Cleveland photographer Larry Kasperek has worked at newspapers as staff
photographer and as director of photography in a fi ve state region from 1974 through
2000. His work appears in private and corporate collections including the Cleveland
Clinic, University Hospitals, Glidden Collection and the Marriott Hotel Cleveland. He
received his Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri.
The awards are from his pinhole camera series of photographs. “What attracted me
was the simplicity of it,” said Kasperek, of his pinhole camera series. “A light-tight box,
a tiny hole for a lens, and fi lm. The interesting thing about pinhole cameras is how
everything from an inch or so in front of the camera, to infi nity are in focus and an
extreme wide-angle view.”
