Founded in 1939 by a consortium of six composers including Aaron Copeland, the American Music Center is the nation's first information and support center for new American music. AMC has consistently pioneered groundbreaking initiatives that have supported and advanced the field through the decades, and today the Center's programs and service help make possible countless performances of new music each year. These efforts collectively further the Center's mission of building a national community for new American music.
