Pictures, Patents, Monkeys and More...On Collecting is on view at the Akron Art Museum through February 24. The eclectic collection of objects, ranging from a sculpture made of hairdryers to 100 sock monkey toys, presents a fascinating cross-section of the creativity of American collectors, artists and inventors. The Ritz Theatre in Tiffin will offer a new addition to northwest Ohiošs arts and entertainment community. The Ritz's studio theatre, which opens January 8, will provide a unique opportunity for theatre-goers to experience live theatre in an intimate and interactive setting. "This space will allow us to do a wide variety of events that are better suited to smaller audiences," said Ritz Theatre executive director Dennis Sankovich. "We can experiment with all kinds of entertainment and take some risks." The space, located in the two-story annex to the existing building, also will be used for non-performance events including rehearsals, business meetings, rentals and receptions.
