2012 Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio

About the Awards

The Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio is a statewide program that showcases and celebrates Ohio artists, arts organizations, arts patrons and business support of the arts. Winners are selected in six categories -- Arts Administration, Arts Education, Arts Patron, Business Support of the Arts, Community Development & Participation, and Individual Artist. On occasion, the Irma Lazarus lifetime achievement award is also given out, the winner being nominated by a member of the Ohio Arts Council or Ohio Citizens for the Arts board. A selection committee made up of Ohio Arts Council and Ohio Citizens for the Arts board members, plus one past Governor's Award winner, selects the winners. The program is presented by the Ohio Arts Council and the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation, and award winners are presented with an original work of art by an Ohio artist at the public ceremony.

For additional information, please visit the Governor's Awards website.
