Catherine M. Coles

Coles is a research associate in the Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. She holds a JD degree and a Ph.D. in social anthropology. She has done research in constitutional and criminal law, prosecution, the courts and public policy related to these areas. Recently she has concentrated on identifying the strategies, priorities and problem-solving efforts being developed by prosecutors and city attorneys in major U.S. cities as part of a movement toward community-based prosecution, crime prevention and order maintenance. She is a co-author, along with George L. Kelling, of Fixing Broken Windows: Restoring Order and Reducing Crime in Our Communities.
