Music can take us many places, and not all of the destinations are planned. When I began playing harp as a toddler, I never imagined the world of cultures I would visit or the variety of music I would enjoy. When I see other children try harps for the first time there is an electricity in the room. The most wonderful thing about bringing kids and harps together is that with just a little guidance, every child can be successful, making real music from the beginning. Helping children understand themselves as music-makers leads them to exploration of the science of sound, musicians in history, and their own creative process.
