I am a filmmaker. With a camera, I express myself and say things. I use different tools and brushes, and weave images and sounds into something cohesive and accessible, something with a beginning, middle and end. I am a storyteller. I act as a facilitator by encouraging and supporting ideas, stories and issues that students consider important in their lives. I steer and refine those ideas by way of simple technology, and help to create works by and about those students.

I studied film-making at New York University and have been awarded six Ohio Arts Council fellowships for my work as a filmmaker and screenwriter. I've received two production grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Rockefeller Media Arts Fellowship. I've worked with at-risk youth, middle and high school students, prisoners, developmentally disabled adults, and have also taught at the university level.
