SCULPTURE CENTER SEEKS PUBLIC HELP

The Sculpture Center in Cleveland seeks help in updating the Ohio Outdoor Sculpture Inventory, a comprehensive interactive database that documents publicly accessible outdoor sculpture throughout Ohio. The OOSI website, accessed by scholars, students and arts enthusiasts, receives 300 hits a day. Most of the 900 entries in the database were documented by volunteers during the nationwide Save Outdoor Sculpture survey conducted in 1992-95; new sculptures have been added.

Because new sculptures are frequently installed, moved or removed, and many need conservation, The Sculpture Center faces a constant challenge to learn about additions or changes. They ask for your help so the OOSI inventory will  accurately reflect the status of outdoor sculpture in Ohio.  Search the OOSI website at www.sculpturecenter.org/oosi/oo.asp by county or city to find sculptures in your area. The Sculpture Center needs to know a location before it can research a sculpture, but more information is helpful. Email The Sculpture Center at tsc@apk.net or call 216/229-6527.

WE'RE BUILDING OHIO THROUGH THE ARTS
The Ohio Arts Council, a state agency established in 1965, builds the state through the arts - economically, educationally and culturally - preserving the past, enhancing the present and enriching the future for all Ohioans. The Council believes the arts should be shared by the people of Ohio. The arts arise from public, individual and organizational efforts. The OAC supports and encourages those efforts.
