INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE (CON'T)

The artists will be in residence at Zygote Press in Cleveland. Zygote Press provides technical expertise to artists and apprentices who desire further skills in print production and classes, exhibitions, lectures and demonstrations to community centers, schools and institutions throughout the Cleveland area.

Working with national corporations and philanthropic and arts organizations, the OAC's International Program is recognized as a leader in cultural arts exchanges among U.S. state arts agencies. The International Program encourages Ohio artists and arts organizations to form partnerships with arts professionals abroad.

The OAC's Individual Artist Program recognizes and supports artists as a valuable resource for building communities in Ohio. For more information on the International or Individual Artist programs visit www.oac.state.oh.us.


To commemorate the Ohio Bicentennial, the Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery will exhibit 60 masterpieces by prominent Ohio artists March 3 through May 4, 2003. The State of the Arts: A Celebration of Ohio's Rich Artistic Heritage examines Ohio's prominent role as a catalyst for the visual arts within America and abroad.

Two events will be held in conjunction with this exhibition; both are free and open to the public:


Thursday, March 20, 7 pm. Lecture and Tour with co-curators James M. Keny and Nannette V. Maciejunes. Keny and Maciejunes will lead a tour of the exhibition while discussing Ohio's artistic history.


Sunday, April 6, 2 & 3:30 pm. Family Day at the Riffe Gallery and Ohio Statehouse. A historical impersonator will portray Nathan B. Kelly, architect of the Ohio Statehouse, and lead guided tours of the Riffe Gallery's exhibition and the art of the Statehouse. Tours originate at the Riffe Gallery at 2 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. For more information call 614/644-9624.
