I am a dancer, actor and mime artist who specializes in interdisciplinary teaching and coaching, as well as creating and performing movement theatre works. Currently I am the movement specialist and Associate Professor of Theatre at The Ohio State University (OSU). My artistic studies include the University of Utah's Modern Dance and Theatre Departments, OSU's Department of Dance and the American Conservatory Theatre of San Francisco. I have also studied with contemporary director and creator Anne Bogart and the SITI company, and extensively with French mime artist Marcel Marceau.
I work with groups and individuals to create new performance pieces by introducing them to many improvisational tools, including Anne Bogart's cutting-edge Viewpoint training. From dance, I draw from composition and the use of the performer's whole body as the instrument of their expression. If the work is focused on narrative, I draw on acting through the development of character, objectives, actions and scriptwriting. From my work with Marcel Marceau, I draw on mime to reveal gestures that express the essence of thought and emotion.
