I am a writer. I think of myself first as a playwright and then as a novelist. I like to bring both of these perspectives into a residency. Storytelling takes many forms and I like to have participants in a residency experience different forms. In a past residency, students began with gathering oral stories from their families. We shared those and then learned how to translate them into short stories using the oral stories as a base for the short story. These were written up and refined and then we explored which of these stories had dramatic potential and then used those as an inspriation for a short play. During each of these segments we examined the structure of the medium that we were working with. My residency work is espeically effective with middle and high school students.

Much of my current artistic work has been focused on the creation of a three dimensional novel. This work has allowed me to incorporate my writing and my visual arts skills into one project. Examples of this work can be seen at www.londonhousepublishing.com. I have a long-term project of writing a series of episodic plays and I will be a guest professor in playwrighting in 2011 at Otterbein University.

I have studied at a variety of different institutions. I have received my BA and MA in creative writing and studied theatre at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. I have had plays produced in the U.S. and overseas and written plays under commission. I have recently completed a novel, Dearest, and edited a new publication of Jane Austen's Lady Susan. I am currently scheduling readings of new plays and outlining my next novel. I have worked with the Artists in Residency program at OAC for over 25 years.
