I am a Jazz saxophonist, bandleader and composer. I have a deep passion for what I do and I am able to communicate that passion in the way that I perform and the way that I address students and teachers on the musical situation at hand. I can take them beyond the printed notes into the world of the story that the music should sing of and feel that the musical drama rides on. I can take them into the personal relationship with the music that I have and they can aspire to.

My work would be on display throughout the residency as an example of that personal relationship with the music, the passion in the expression and the joy of the experience.

I am in my fifth decade as a professional jazz musician. I have performed at festivals, concerts, and jazz clubs across the United States, Europe, and Japan. I have 28 recordings under my name with a variety of record labels and many of the recordings are of my compositions. I have been critically acclaimed by a variety of media world wide and have won a number of awards such as the Tri-C Jazz Festival Jazz Legends Award and most recently the Cleveland Arts Prize Lifetime Achievement Award for music.
