For many of today's quilt makers, the graphic and technical elements are the foundations which support the primary concern the content of the quilt's message.

Join the Riffe Gallery for the opening of Quilt National '13 on January 30, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Quilt National '13 director Kathleen M. Dawson will lead a tour of the exhibition on January 31, from noon to 1 p.m.

In this workshop, children ages 6-17 are invited to tell their own stories on a small quilt top through drawings, doodles and words. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring an inspirational photo of a special place, person or pet. Registration is required as space is limited; all children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Register online between January 30 and February 19, 2014.

Thursday, April 10, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Stitch together snippets of poetic phrases and metaphors into a narrative poem with guest poet and workshop leader Katie Daley. Surrounded by inspiring quilts from the United States and beyond, we will quilt poems out of the scraps of surprising language we find daily in our lives and imaginations.
