Picture Day, a documentary film created by Steven Bognar during an Ohio Arts Council residency at Tussing Elementary in Pickerington, is gaining more recognition in Hollywood. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will feature the film in a semi-monthly documentary series running October 2001 through March 2002 at the University of California Los Angeles. The Academy/UCLA series grew out of concern for the lack of public exposure received by many documentaries of genuine merit. Picture Day was chosen by the Academy's Documentary Screening Committee to be one of the outstanding documentaries of 2000. Picture Day also was shown at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival.
