1999 GOVERNOR'S AWARDS WINNERS HONORED
Eight businesses and individuals were honored at the 1999 Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio and Arts Day Luncheon, presented by the Ohio Arts Council and Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation in late March. Kitty Carlisle Hart was the keynote speaker at the event at the Columbus Athenaeum.
Hart, an actress and singer with a long record of achievement in the arts and public service, appeared on Broadway, in opera and in films. She is chairman emeritus of the New York State Council on the Arts.
Award categories and recipients were: Arts Administration, Salli LoveLarkin, Cincinnati; Arts in Education, Marjorie Witt Johnson, Euclid; Arts Outreach, Preservation Dayton; Arts Patron, Ora Anderson, Athens; Business Support of the Arts, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Akron; Individual Artist, Dorothy Gill Barnes, Worthington; Partnerships in the Arts, Champion International Corporation, Hamilton. The Irma Lazarus Award was given to Heinz Poll of Akron.
The Ohio Arts Council and Ohio Citizens for the Arts thank all legislators who attended the event.
