A recent study found that the Cleveland Museum of Art has a $22 million impact on the northeast Ohio economy annually. The economic impact analysis resulted from a yearlong visitor survey conducted by the museum. A random sample of 1,545 visitors was surveyed between March 1999 and February 2000 regarding where they lived, length of stay, reason for visit and other market-related data. The museum also released the results of a telephone survey, conducted to determine the impact of the museumšs multi-year Convening the Community outreach effort. Over 70% of those surveyed said they had visited the museum at least once in their lifetime and 38% rated it the top museum in Cleveland.
