  Graphic Design in the Mechanical Age is on view through May 27 at the Akron Art Museum. Featuring more than 200 posters, advertisements, photomontages and collages by Russian, European and American artists of the 1920s and 1930s, the exhibition traces the development of progressive graphic design in the early 20th century. Noteworthy.

  Internationally heralded architect Renzo Piano, whose designs include the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Kansai airport terminal in Osaka and the forthcoming New York Times headquarters in Manhattan, will be awarded the ninth Wexner Prize. This will be the first Wexner Prize ever awarded to an architect and the first prize Piano has ever received from a multidisciplinary institution. The Jentel Artist Residency Program is accepting applications from visual artists and writers for one-month residency in the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains in March 2002.
