Unique American Vision:
The Paintings of Gregory Gillespie is on view at The Butler
Institute of American Art in Youngstown. The retrospective exhibition
features work from the last four decades by realist painter Gregory
Gillespie. Unique American Vision, which includes portraits, interiors and

Rodin: Sculpture from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Collection is on view at the Dayton Art institute through March 26. The exhibition features more than 70 pieces by the great French sculptor Auguste Rodin, including casts, studies and drawings from his most noted works such as The Thinker, The Gates of Hell, Burghers of Calais, The Kiss and The Age of Bronze. The Dayton Contemporary Dance
Company board has appointed Kevin Ward as artistic director and Debbie
Blunden-Diggs as associate artistic director and director of
education. Ward succeeds DCDC founder and artistic director Jeraldyne
Blunden who died in November 1999 at the age of 58.
Paavo Jarvi has been appointed music director for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, effective September 2001. Jarvi, a 37-year-old American born in Estonia, has served as principal guest conductor with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He will succeed Jeszs Lspez-Cobos to become the 12th music director of the 105-year-old orchestra. |
