Awards for the Arts Presented Eight businesses and individuals were honored at the 1999 Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio and Arts Day Luncheon, presented by the Ohio Arts Council and Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation March 24. Award categories and recipients were: Arts Administration, Salli LoveLarkin, Cincinnati; Arts in Education, Marjorie Witt Johnson, Euclid; Arts Outreach, Preservation Dayton; Arts Patron, Ora Anderson, Athens; Business Support of the Arts, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Akron; Individual Artist, Dorothy Gill Barnes, Worthington; Partnerships in the Arts, Champion International Corporation, Hamilton. The Irma Lazarus Award was given to Heinz Poll, Ohio Ballet, Akron. The Ohio Arts Council and Ohio Citizens for the Arts thank the event sponsors and all of the legislators and arts advocates who attended. Conference Scheduled The 12th annual Midwest Arts Conference, September 15-18 in Kansas City, Missouri, will be one of the largest booking and education events for the performing arts in the country. It is expected to attract more than 900 artists, managers, presenters and administrators. There will be an array of seminars and workshops, networking opportunities, more than 10 hours of exhibit hall time and some great parties. Registration brochures will be mailed in early May.
