On February 23 Miami University Art Museum will host Andy Warhol and the American Dream, a lecture by Tom Sokolowski, director of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. The lecture begins at 7:30. For more information call 513/539-2232.

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, in association with The King Arts Complex, will feature the Marcus Roberts Trio at the Ohio Theater February 26-27. Roberts will perform his arrangements of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess as well as original compositions with the symphony. For more information call the King Arts Complex at 614/252-5464.

The Cleveland International Film Festival, March 18-28 at Tower City Cinemas in Downtown Cleveland, will present approximately 80 features from 35 countries and more than 100 short subjects. The event includes the Midwest Independent Filmmakers Conference March 26-28. Program guides will be available February 22. Ticket sales begin February 26. OAC Says Goodbye to Ohio Artists

  Clyde Singer, painter and long-time contributor to the American art scene, remained active as an artist and museum curator in Youngstown until his recent death at the age of 90.

Columbus folk artist and OAC Fellowship recipient Mary Francis Merrill has died at the age of 79. Merrill received national recognition as part of a group of self-taught Columbus artists including Elijah Pierce and William Hawkins.

 

On-line Application Form

  The Ohio Arts Council's Application Form A is available on-line. You can download the form from the OAC website at www.oac.state.oh.us/guidlns/appforms.htm.

The form is a self-extracting zip file for Windows and a word for Macintosh file. Organizations can fill out the application on their computer, then mail it to the OAC. Other application forms will be available within the next few months.

The National Endowment for the Arts announced the first round of its 1999 grants in the creation and presentation category at a press conference in Columbus hosted by the Ohio Arts Council on December 15.
