John Bryant, founder, chairman and CEO of Operation Hope in Los Angeles, will describe his banking organization's commitment to the social and economic revitalization of inner cities and the under-served as part of Growing Inward: Rebuilding the Center City series co-sponsored by the OAC. The President's Committee on the Arts
and the Humanities, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, is initiating
an annual awards program to reward exemplary community arts and humanities programs for
children and young people, especially those who live in high risk circumstances.

The Ohio Historical Society is asking jazz enthusiasts and memorabilia collectors for help in gathering information and artifacts about the history of jazz in Ohio. The society is organizing an exhibition called Listen for the Jazz in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution's Jazz Age in Paris, 1914-1940, a traveling exhibition that will be at the Ohio Historical Center in early 1999.
